1.1 Initial problem(s)

In this chapter, you will detail the processes that led you to choose a name for your project.

The first section titled “Initial problems” focuses on the starting point of your thinking. You know that the name can have a significant impact on the future clients of your innovation. You may have encountered hesitations when trying to name your creation. There are several approaches. For example, Latin and Greek words are traditionally used in the scientific field, which leaves little room for creators. There are also proponents of acronyms. In any case, you should mention here the qualities and characteristics that the name of your creation should evoke.

Team recommendations: The essential characteristic that should guide your choice is uniqueness. Your name must be original, easy to remember, and easily associated with your creation (e.g., “Frigidaire” for refrigerator is a good example). The name has a significant influence on intellectual property matters. Pay particular attention to ensuring that your name cannot be confused with the one chosen by another creator for a similar creation.

Right from the beginning of the project, Alain Souloumiac wondered:

“What term should be used to describe this process that contributes to the success of startups? It would be ideal to find a name that can be easily used around the world, is easy to remember, and meets with a positive response from both startups and incubators.”
